What is Halal?
Halal means lawful or permitted.
▪ All foods are considered halal that are hand slaughtered in accordance with
Islamic principles.
▪ The opposite is haram, which means unlawful and includes;
▪ Swine/pork and its by-products
o Animals improperly slaughtered or dead before slaughtering
o Animals killed in the name of anyone other than ALLAH (God)
o Blood and blood by-products
o Foods contaminated with any of the above products
Eid-ul-Adha
Eid-ul-Adha (a.k.a. the Feast of Sacrifice or Day of Sacrifice) is observed
after the Hajj – the annual pilgrimage to Makkah in Saudi Arabia. As per the Five Pillars of Islam, it is the duty of each Muslim to go for Hajj atleast once in their lifetime, unless the person has financial or medical concerns. You have a choice to either place your order through your local halal store or come personally and participate in this annual Day of Sacrifice.
What is Zabihah
▪ Zabiha describes how an animal is hand slaughtered in accordance with Islamic principles.
▪ The procedure includes guidelines on how to slaughter and the blessing that needs to be recited at the time of the sacrifice
Hakika or Aqeeqa
